Performance
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is unlike most EV models as it was designed to be an ultra-high-performance EV. This means Spring Valley and Enterprise shoppers will find the Ioniq 5 N right at home, driving on the road or tearing up trails.
Powering every Ioniq 5 N is a dual-motor, all-wheel drive configuration that produces 601 horsepower. Although activated with the N Grin Boost feature, the powertrain can temporarily produce up to 641 horsepower.
Also, there's a dedicated drift mode for those looking to whip around trails and several different modes. The base drive modes Eco, Normal, Sport, and N adjust the steering weight, damping, and throttle sensitivity, whereas the Endurance and Sprint modes help to preserve the Ioniq 5 N's battery range or unlock its maximum throttle.
Charging & Range
All Ioniq 5 N models have an 84.0-kWh battery pack and an EPA estimated range of 221 miles of mixed driving per charge. We say mixed driving, as in testing, the Ioniq 5 N was found to only get 190 miles before the battery depleted with certain drive modes. As for charging, Hyundai says the Ioniq 5 N can reach 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes at a 100-kW DC-Fast Charger. At a 50-kW station, it will take an hour and 10 minutes. Meanwhile, a full charge will take all night when hooked up to a 240-volt Level 2 unit.
Technology & Safety
Since the Ioniq 5 N has no trim levels, Henderson and Summerlin shoppers will find the base model is fully loaded with tech and safety features. Throughout, drivers can find amenities like an electronic limited-slip differential, active grille shutters for improved aerodynamics, and a navigation system running on a 12.3-inch touchscreen.
Although if you think that's a lot, the safety features are much more robust. From adaptive cruise control to blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert and a surround-view camera system, there's a lot the Ioniq 5 N has to keep you safe. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Design
Having been designed as an ultra-high-performance vehicle, the Ioniq 5 N has the outward appearance of a rally hatchback. The interior, on the other hand, is very similar to the Ioniq 5, but with several performance-oriented features to heighten the experience. There's a set of bolstered front seats to help hold Paradise Valley drivers in place during high-speed cornering and a specialized steering wheel allowing easy access to the SUV's drive modes, regenerative braking levels, and the N Grin Boost feature. One of the few things that hasn't been altered is the cargo space, which, like the Ioniq 5, can hold up to 20 carry-on bags.
