What's New?

This year, the Tucson receives a styling refresh, and with it comes updates to the grille, bumpers, and wheels. The interior has been updated, and now entry-level models get a 12.3-inch touchscreen and analog gauges. There are also tweaks to the steering wheel and that climate control panel too.

Fuel Economy

In the EPA's estimation, the Tucson is a fuel-efficient SUV. When using its base powertrain with front-wheel drive it has an estimated 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. With its plug-in hybrid equipped, those numbers increase to 38 mpg in both city and highway.

Design

With its new updates, the Tucson's exterior is as sleek as ever and a standout in its class. The cabin, too, is more modernized with a simple layout for its digital gauge display, a column-mounted shifter, and a climate-control system. Given all these changes, though, Sumerlin shoppers will find the cargo remains unchanged. But considering it's one of the most spacious in its class, holding between nine and 22 bags, we can see why it wouldn't need to be changed.

Technology

This year, Tucson receives updates to its tech offering. Now, Henderson and Enterprise drivers will find a single 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen offered in every trim along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Features like SiriusXM satellite radio and a Bose stereo system are optional.

New to the Tucson this year is an upgrade to the optional infotainment system. The optional upgrade features two digital screens that stretch most of the width of the dashboard. One screen houses the digital gauge, while the other offers access to the Tucson's various features like its radio, navigation, and vehicle settings.

Other amenities include Hyundai's digital key smartphone app, which allows Spring Valley and Paradise drivers to lock and unlock the vehicle as well as remotely start it.

Safety

Safety is a top priority for Hyundai, and it's why features like automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist are standard. But this year, even more safety features are being offered, such as a newly available head-up display and infrared driver attention monitor. The new driving monitor scans your face to make sure you aren't getting drowsy. If you are found unresponsive, the Tuscon will slow down and activate its hazard lights.
